On April 21, Google will “expand our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.” This will have a significant effect on searches and may immediately change your organic Google ranking for search results. 181373942 You may think that this and other changes to Google’s algorithms may be for some internal business reasons, yet really it is just Google watching trends. You may still be enamored with websites on a desktop, but more than half the world is just not using the desktop. Mobile surpassed desktop for uses in 2014 according to ComScore. Smartphones, tablets and phablets are now surpassing desktop for shopping, social media and email. Google is looking out for our best interests if we want to compete in the digital age, and they have to power to make us all acquiesce or be moved down the search results into obscurity.
